New Delhi: The government in the budget on Tuesday states the need for faster environmental permits as part of its greater purpose than ‘ease of business doing’, and also proposes legislative changes needed to promote agroforestry and personal forestry to increase green cover in this country .
Referring to Parivesh – One window portal for all green licenses launched in 2018, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the budget, “The scope of this portal will now be expanded to provide information to applicants.
Based on the location of the unit, information about special approval will be provided.
“This step will allow the application for all green agreements including the environment, forests and wildlife through one form.
It will also help in “process tracking through a centralized processing center (CPC-Green)”.
In promoting agroforestry, the Minister of Finance proposed financial support to farmers belonging to the scheduled caste and tribes, who wanted to do agroforestry.
The agroforestry promotion through legislative changes and financial support is part of a greater government goal to gradually move towards the carbon neutral economy.
In addition to supporting sustainable agriculture, agroforestry also provides ecological services and acts as a carbon sink.
