New Delhi: Election Commission has appointed 15 special observers – including five special general observers, five special police observers and five special expenditure observers each – to oversee the behavior of the assembly poll in five countries and acted as the eye and ear polling panel on the ground ensure free, fair and voter polls.
In Uttar Pradesh, Ex Ias Officer Ajay nayak will be a special general observer, Ex-IPS Officer Deepak Mishra Special Police Observer and EX-IRS officer B Murali Kumar and B Balakrishnan special shopping observer.
In Punjab, ex-IAS officer and former Commissioner of Vinod Zutshi’s election deputy will act as a special general observer, EX-IPS officer Rajni Kant Mishra as a special police observer and EX-IRS officer Himalini Kashyap as a special shopping observer.
RAM Mohan Mishra, Retired IAS Officer, was appointed as a special general observer in Uttarakhand, who will also have an Ex-IPS Anil Kumar Sharma officer as a special police observer and officer former Irs Madhu Mahajan as a special expenditure observer.
Goa will only have two special observers – Ex-Ias Officer Manjit Singh as a special general observer and EX-IPS officer Somesh Goyal as a special police observer.
Retired IAS Officer Pravir Krishna has been appointed as a special general observer in Manipur, who will also get Ex-IPS Officer Arun Kumar as a special police observer and officer former Irs Rajesh Teetja as a special shopping observer.
At a newly appointed specialty briefing with a special observer on Tuesday, the Head of Commissioner Sushil Chandra said that the thorough spirit behind the spread of special observers was objectively assessing poll preparedness, identifying the critical gap and guiding the selection engine in the field.
He asked special observers to be alert and relate to the commission in real time and bring to the latter pay attention to every corrective step needed.
Commissioner of Election Rajiv Kumar said the impartiality, justice, visibility, accessibility, and vigilance of special observers ensure the implementation of commission instructions in letters and spirits.
The Commissioner of the Election of Anup Chandra Pandey specifically requested special observers to ensure the firm enforcement of extensive Covid guidelines and effective SDMA norms.
