Guwahati: Lt-Gen Rana Pratap Kalita took over as a general officer of the prestigious Eastern Commander, headquartered in Fort William in Kolkata, on Tuesday.
Lt lt Sumit K Sharma said Kalita after paying homage to martyrs in Vijay Smarak followed by the honorary guard at Garlalion Parade Ground.
Before this, he was the Director General of Labor Planning and Personnel Services at IHQ MOD (ARMY) in New Delhi.
He was assigned to 9 Kumaon in 1984 and had extensive operational experience in Sri Lanka, J & K and northeast.
