Hubballi: A college in the city of Bhadravathi, Shivamogga District, has told female students wearing a headscarf to remove it in the waiting room and attend the classes from Thursday.
The Principal of Visvesvaraya Government College, Bhadravathi, MG Umashankar said he had discussed this issue with their students and parents.
“The problem has been resolved.
They will not wear a hijab in the classroom,” he said.
Moving by college authorities came after a piece of students came to college wearing a turmeric scarf and asked their Muslim classmates not to wear a headscarf during class.
The state-run college in Karnataka has a uniform code.
The incident came in two weeks of students in Chikkamagaluru College wearing a turmeric scarf to mark their protests against Muslim girls wearing headscarves on campus.
Some students have demanded that college administration ensure students do not wear headscarves on campus even though there are higher college rules that students do not have to follow uniform code (in this special college).
On Tuesday and Wednesday, many students wore a turmeric scarf and scarf on campus and held Dharna against training.
