Bhubaneswar: Old passenger reservation system (PRS) and the making of the booking counter in front of the Bhubaneswar train station has been drawn down and leveling of land is underway.
It gives the impression of the work of rebuilding there after starting to swing, but, in fact, it hasn’t taken off.
The PRS counter and booking were shifted from the old building to a temporary place near the RMS office in the circulated station in November 2016.
In the following month, the state government has given its approval to the Development Authority of Bhubaneswar (BDA)) for the implementation of the Railway Station multimodal hub project there.
However, the project has been stuck due to uncontrolled delay and confusion.
Exactly from the work department to BDA, no one took the initiative to start the project.
After a lot of delays and changes in date, the memorandum of understanding was signed between Indian trains and the state government on September 19, 2019 in New Delhi.
The project includes the construction of a terminal building for the train station, public car parking area, pick-up and special drop-off paths for taxis, automatic rickshaws and other vehicles and city bus terminals.
New Station Buildings and two new railways with platforms will be developed in an integrated land of railroad and state government.
The proposed building will have land plus five floors.
The completion time for this multimodal hub project is 30 months.
After 28 months, there was no enough progress for those made in this direction.
