Mumbai: Hundreds of medical teachers in the state continued mass leave on Friday to protest the Secretary of Medical Education Saurabh Vijay, who was allegedly stuck in a fight with them.
About 350 Ad-hoc medical teachers have broken down since January 5, demanding their services regulated at Government Medical Universities.
On Thursday, some went to meet Vijay.
Despite waiting for hours, they were asked to meet with the assistant.
“Around 4pm, because some teachers entered his room, he began to harass them verbally.
He said we did not have a promise when, in fact, we were officially looking for one,” said Dr.
Sachin Mulkutkar, President, Maharashtra State Medical Teacher Association.
Vijay told Toi that around 40 doctors broke into the cabin when he was in the middle of the meeting.
“They have no appointments.
It is not a way for medical teachers to behave.
Also, regularization is not a simple decision.
This is the process and we learn all relevant material about it,” Vijay said.
