Coimbatore: Rural police arrested two young men on Monday for robbing two people from two sovereign gold chains and cellphones with luring them through a mobile application for gay.
One more person arrested for receiving a stolen cellphone from young people.
The young man who was arrested was identified as a Jokish Godwin, 19, from LRG Nagar near Narasimmanaickenpalayam, and S Ashwin, 19, from Rajendran Nagar in Narasimmanaickepalaryam.
S Suresh, 33, from Jalan Puthupalayam in Narasimmanaicenpalayam, was arrested for receiving a stolen cellphone.
They were departed in judicial detention on Tuesday morning downloading the mobile app, he was asked to visit the foot of the Somayanur hill near Thagam in Coimbatore Regency on January 22 by the youth through the application.
When Duraishanmugam visited the place, the five-sovereignty member gang and seized him from two sovereign gold chains and cellphones.
Gang even asked Duraishanmugam to give a password for GPay.
When he refused, the gang attacked him and fled.
He filed a complaint with Thadagam police who registered a case against the gang.
The police Thadagam caught Godwin and Ashwin Lokish.
Introduction Investigations revealed that Godwin Lokish was involved in the same incident at Somaiiyampalayam, Kallar Railway Bridge, Gounder Mills, Periyananacenpalayam and Narasimmanaickenpallayam.
Three more gang members were arrested on February 5 for the same incident and returned in custody.
