Colombo: The Corruption Prevention Unit of the Sports Ministry has begun investigation into the alleged efforts to improve the match in the Lankan Premier League which has recently been concluded (LPL).
Jagath Fonseka, Head of the Unit, said the leading national dough had submitted complaints with them after he was approached for corruption.
“He told us that he had been approached by the son of a rich gem entrepreneur and a friend of the same person to do it.
We have concluded us and continued the letters to the lawyers,” said Fonseka told reporters.
Prevention of violations relating to sports laws, making laws in 2019, which are provided for prevention of match improvements, corruption, illegal manipulation, and illegal bets in sports and for appointment of special investigation units for investigating violations.
The second edition of the Twenty20 league took place in December and the tournament was placed by five teams.
Many foreign players compete.
