TNAU introduces two new high-yield Paddy varieties

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has introduced two new high rice varieties, drought-resistant varieties and one that is suitable for salt soil conditions.
Some Subramanian, research director, TNAU said they had released eight agricultural plants and seven horticultural plants recently.

Subramanian said other new rice viensification included TKM 15, which was suitable for sowing directly in the semi-dry condition during the northeastern season of the northern and south state; CO 55, ponni rice varieties with 6 tons per hectare only in 115 days; And ADT 57, which has an average of 6.5 tons per hectare.
TNAU has released two Green Gram Varieties – ADT 7 and VBN 5 – too.
While ADT 7, which can be harvested at 65 to 70 days, has 724kg per hectare, VBN 5, which can be harvested at 70 to 75 days, has a result of 870kg per hectare.
VBN 5 is also resistant to Mung Bean Yellow Mosaic Virus.
It also released two groundnut varieties – VRI 9 with an average result of 2,500kg per hectare in 115 days and 10% VRI with oil content.
VRI 10 can be harvested in 95 days.
Among other new releases were banana varieties CO 3 developed from Karpooravalli x H201, BSR 3 turmeric varieties and MDU 2 brinjal varieties.
