Gurgaon: Illegal Guesthouses have begun to develop again in licensed colonies when the city department and planning state slows actions against violators.
After making high claims about the survey plans and complicated actions of 1,000 illegal guesthouses in the city, the department has failed to act while the population in these colonies faces a difficult time due to additional burdens in infrastructure and safety issues and security.
“The failure of the authority to act against the perpetrators has placed the population of luxury colonies – DLF-3, Sushant Lok-1 and others – in a difficult situation, illegal guesthouses once again started operating without fear,” said Dheeraj Sahani, a resident.
He said the department’s action plan lost steam even when the State Government announced a policy for the guesthouse.
Other DLF-3 residents, on anonymity, said there was a guesthouse at 80 percent plot on track and became impossible to stay there.
“All day and night, the streets are blocked by cars parked by guests and there are serious security problems because these guesthouses are illegal and are being operated without permission and verification processes,” he said.

About 2,500 guesthouses in the city, where only 100 to 120 were approved by the authority.
This guesthouse is concentrated on the licensed colony DLF-1, DLF-2, DLF-3, Suncity, Palam Vihar, Sushant Lok, Sector 45, 46, 47 and South City.
In accordance with recent policies, a guesthouse is permitted to plot housing 500 square feet up to 1500 square meters.
Even two plots of 500 square meters or more Clubbed Area together will be approved.
But in the small plot of 200 square meters have been developed into a guesthouse in a total norm violation.
When asking, the District City Planner RS Batth said the department had completed the survey and identified the guesthouse located on the streets of licensed colony, including DLF, Sushant Lok-1 and 2.
