Vadodara: After dissolving the detection team in each police station, Shamsher Singh City Police Commissioner has now formed a local Crime Branch (LCB) team.
These teams will be led by police sub-inspectors and they will report directly to their Zone DCP.
“We have formed a LCB team that will work in certain cases.
These teams will also change in trading liquor and detect crime,” Singh said.
The home department has given a new post for the LCB team under DCP in every city.
The new LCB team will replace D-staff (detection staff) that has functions at every police station for years.
Staff D recently dissolved after city police chiefs received complaints of irregularities about it.
These staff include constables, police chief, assistant sub-inspectors and police sub-supervisors used to focus on detecting crime in the city.
Police officials said that many staff members have become incompetent or have developed personal interests.
“The new LCB team will include PSI, one breast milk, one constable head, four police officers and two drivers.
The team’s work will be monitored by the DCPS concerned,” the police said.
US police officials also said that D staff can be formed in the future if there is a need to do it in any police station.
But members of D-staff will be new and competent.
