New Delhi: The 38-year-old former serviceman has been arrested for allegedly attacking a woman and extorting money from her friend in the park in Dwarka in Delhi by posing as a police officer, officials said on Saturday.
Allegations have been identified as Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Najafgarh.
He is a retired army personnel and is currently being employed as wrestling coach based on a contract with the Haryana government in Gurugram, police said.
On February 4, a complaint was received regarding a sexual attack of a woman in the park on January 28 by someone suspected of posing as a police officer.
He also extorted Rs 5,000 from his friend’s friend, a senior police officer said.
The police analyzed CCTV footage and was found that he escaped from the place in the third car.
During the investigation in the area, the appearance of these people was established and examined from the police database, the officer said.
One police officer expressed suspicion of someone he had examined roaming in the park last year.
The police have also clicked the SIM photos and details of the car registration certificate for verification purposes, police said.
Also, street vendors notify that suspicious people came in Dzire cars quickly and roam around the park, they said.
The police went to the address mentioned about the SIM, but the suspect was not found there, they said.
Police obtain detailed Dzire Swift car which caused some instructions regarding the owner.
One of the contacts was questioned and the address is now confirmed, the officer said.
Then, the police arrested the accused of being accused and the third car was found in his house, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Shankar Choudhary said.
Kumar admitted his crime.
He revealed that he had thrown away the Dzire Swift car a few months ago.
He revealed that he had served in the Army in sports and retirement quota as Subtih.
The third car and clothes worn by the defendant to pose a policeman had recovered from his ownership, added the police.
