Bhubaneswar: The Women and Child Development Department on Saturday asked the district collector to make Handawadi centers ready to reopen.
The department also asked the collectors to send reports on readiness on February 16.
The department instructed officers to ensure that the building-building buildings were fine and the facilities had all the equipment.
The official source said, with Covid-19 cases declined, the Odisha government plans to reopen the centers across the state and direction in this case will soon be issued.
“Because this Angganwadi Center does not operate over the past two years, the condition of the building and other equipment in this facility need to be examined before the reopening,” said Nityananda Barik, an additional secretary, the Department of WCD.
Angganwadi centers provide pre-school training to children aged between 3 and 6 and take care of nutrition and care of early childhood and education (ECCE).
In February 2021, the State Government has allowed the reopening of the Angganwadi centers with Covid-19 norms in place.
But they closed because the Covid-19 case reappeared in the second wave.
Again, on January 5 this year, the government announced to close the school and college after the resurrection of the Omicron variant.
“Parents have been waiting with enthusiasm for the hands of Angganwadi to continue.
Children are bored at home.
They do not learn any social skills during a pandemic.
Pre-school training and early childhood learning are very important for them,” said Rashmita Sahu, parents.
