CORAPUT: The police will mobilize drones and helicopters to oversee the Maois movement in Malkangiri and other regions that are hit by the country’s rebels to ensure that the upcoming Panchayat selection is free from violence, Director General of Police SK Bansal said on Friday.
“The Odisha police in relation to central forces has done extraordinary work in holding MAOIS’s threats for the most part in the Malkangiri District, especially in Swabhiman Anchal.
To ensure that Maoists do not interfere with the selection, drones, and helicopters can be deployed,” DGP said after reviewing Security preparedness for rural polls in Malkangiri.
After his visit to Anchal Swabhiman, Bansal appealed to Maois to surrender and live a dignified life.
“I appealed to Maois to give up and join the mainstream and to take advantage of the benefits of the applicable state government submission policy,” DGP said.
“Many development has happened swabhiman and in the next six months will be accelerated,” he added.
The readiness in the part of the Odisha police can be understood given that the left-wing extremists have given a call to boycott Panchayat polls in Malkangiri, Rayaganada, Kandhamal and Goddown.
