Bhubaneswar: Surya Narayan Patro’s speaker on Friday revealed a surprise on the statement of the Law Minister Kiren Rijju at Rajya Sabha that the Center did not accept the resolution of the state on the formation of the legislative council.
“After the State Council issued a resolution regarding the formation of the legislative council, a copy of the resolution was sent to the Secretary General of the Parliamentary houses and the Secretary of the Law and Parliamentary Union on September 18, 2018,” Patro told reporters here.
Patro said efforts to establish houses in the state began in 2015.
In a written reply to questions from BJD’s Prasna Acharya on Thursday, Rijiju said that there was no resolution received by the center of the Legislative Council in Indonesia Odisha.
He also answered that information was being collected from the state government over adoption of resolution.
The statement of the Ministers of the Union has astonished all in the state, including the government, the school of the Assembly and the community.
Acharya said that BJD will seek clarification from the United Government in this matter.
“I don’t understand why the Union Minister made a statement like that.
The state assembly speaker has clarified the date at which the resolution was sent,” Acharya said.
The BJP and Congress opposition in the country gave a mixed response to the Reply of the Union Minister.
Senior Congress leader Taraprasad Bahinipati said that if Rijiju answered with a resolution for the legislative council in the state not based in reality, he would move violations of notice of privileges in the Assembly.
Bahinipati also demands that MPS BJD must immediately seek clarification in this matter.
BJP leader Golak Mohaparna said there should not be in a hurry for the formation of the legislative council in the state because the Assembly did not function properly.
Mohapatra said if the state government has sent a resolution, the center will provide answers in the right time.
The state government has formed a delegation of all parties in 2015 who visited the countries having a legislative council to check the function and submit reports.
After the approval of the state government, the Assembly has passed the resolution in this case on September 6, 2018.
The source said the center must respond to the location of the resolution if the RTI activist submitted an application on the problem.
