PANAJI: There is a clear split between mining dependents on the election day, underlining the fact that non-commencement of mining activities remains a matter of major polls for people who live in state mining belts.
While some are convinced that only the BJP government can restart the industry in the state, the other – still the intelligence of the financial difficulties they are bored after mining suspended – say they are thinking to provide opportunities for other candidates.
Mining belts consist of nine constituents: Mayem, Bicholim, Sanquelim, Tivim, Poriem, Sanvordem, Sanguem, Curchorem, and Quepem.
Seven of them are currently represented by BJP.
“We hope that only BJP can restart mining in Goa because they have a government in the center too,” said Mahabaleshwar Surat, said a truck owner from Mayem.
But a young man from Bicholim, not as much as enthusiasm.
“This time, people will think twice before choosing any parties because they will first think about who will be able to restart mining,” said the young man and showed that Halt had made the most people unemployed.
The Supreme Court first stopped mining in Goa in October 2012 based on the Shah Commission report which estimates the loss of RS 35,000 Crore in the state due to illegal mining 12 years earlier.
Less than a month before that, the state government of Manohar Parragar has suspended all mining activities.
The APEX court has raised the suspension of mining in Goa in 2014 and the following state government has made updates for the second mining rental.
However, this was challenged at the Supreme Court and the industry was suspended once again in March 2018 after the court canceled the second update.
“We have chosen BJP during the 2012 and 2017 assembly elections, but this government failed to restart mining in the past five years.
We have failed to pay our loans because we have no income.

Mining is a large industry that generates maximum income for the country.
After stopping, the livelihood of more than three lakh goans has been directly affected or indirectly.
Aware that non-recipes of mining can turn into a big problem in the mining belt, most political parties, including BJP, Congress-GFP, AAP and TMC-MGP, have made a poll to restart mining activities in it six months forming a government.
“We have repaired trucks and tankers we think that the government will restart mining.

Chandrakant Fondekar, a mechanic who was temporarily employed in the garage of a mining company, said he had been given unemployment after the company closed the garage due to the closure of mining, while mining depends on Sanvordem said they had chosen changes in hopes that the new government made efforts to revive the industry.
