NEW DELHI: Amid pain and despair of several people during the peak of the 2nd wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, there are inspiring stories, too, pouring in from across the country.
One such example is an initiative by 14-year-old Dhruv Mantri.
The Class X student of a Gurugram school raised nearly Rs 7 lakh when people were scrambling for hospital beds, oxygen, medicines, amid surging Covid infections.
The ‘Donate for Oxygen, Save Lives’ was launched by Mantri to help Covid patients in his hometown, Kuchaman, in Rajasthan.
The idea came as his family was battling Covid-19 at that time.
Nearly Rs 7 lakh Covid relief fund was raised through the initiative in less than two weeks.“The initiative was launched through fundraising platform, milaap.org in the second week of May.
Soon, more than 150 people came forward and donated money for the purpose,” Mantri told TOI.
“My hometown has only one government hospital.
The money we managed to raise has helped in procuring oxygen concentrators, which are now being used by people in need,” he said.
