Nagpur: RT-PCR test kit for Gawali Saline, a technology developed by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEEI), has been approved by the drug controller General India (DCGI).
With this, the state can expect the commercial creation of the one-step RNA extraction buffer ‘- neeri innovation, immediately.
This innovation was developed by Krishna Khairnar, scientists and heads in environmental virology cells, neeri.
As reported by TII before, Neer has prepared special buffer media where samples collected diverse.
The sample was then incubated for 30 minutes at room temperature and then heated for six minutes at 98 degrees Celsius which provided a pretty good RNA template for direct RT-PCR.
This innovation eliminates the need for conventional RNA extraction methods that are expensive and time consuming.
Now with the approval of DCGI, HiMedia Laboratories based in Mumbai Pvt Ltd is expected to start producing a one-step RNA extraction buffer designed by neeri.
“NOD DCGI is a recognition of the protocol developed by a neeri and also the consent of commercialization and technology production.
Various tests include stability, security, etc.
examined before giving approval,” the official said.
Himedia has also produced a salt salt samples collection kit.
Following the nod of the Indian Medical Council (ICMR), the manufacture of commercial sample collection kits has begun.
Apart from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Zila Parishad Nagpur, a private laboratory has also begun to implement this process for the RT-PCR collection.
