Rajkot: A Visavadar City student in Junagadh District, Gujarat was tricked by Rs 1.09 lakh by cyber criminals.
The incident occurred when he and his friend carried out the process of getting a refund that failed from Rs 800 through Paytm.
Jay Sardhara, a Bachelor student, registered a complaint to the Cyber Junagadh police station on Tuesday that on May 6, Milan, Milan Dobariya had deposited the RS 800 in the Indian Bank account using the Paytm application.
But the number did not reflect in his account after he called his friend Milan.
Milan look for a paytm customer service number from Google Search to get a refund of this number.
Milan rotate the number that he found from the search engine and also continued Jay in a conference call, the person in the other hand disguised as Paytm customer service executive and asked Jay to download ‘any application to verify credentials.
After downloading the application, a number of Rs 9,889 is debited, the person in the other hand explained that it was due to technical errors and they would get a refund of this number the following day.
When the following day they called the same number as that person gave them a number of seniors.
‘Senior Officer’ asked Jay to open net banking on his computer and use a table transferred RS 1.09 lakh in two transactions, both time Jay provided an OTP to the caller when he asked.
