LONDON / ROME: The world must ensure access to food supplies forcefully when transferred to ensure access to vaccines, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said the opening of the UN food system in Rome.
“The health crisis (Covid-19) has led to the food crisis,” he said, citing data that showed malnutrition in all its forms had become a major cause of poor health and death in the world.
The first UN food system summit will take place in September, with the aim of providing progress in 2030 sustainable development goals.
According to the latest UN data, the World Food System is responsible for one third of global greenhouse gas emissions, making it the main cause of climate change.
