Vadodara: Investigating to the list of beneficiaries Pradhan Mantri Beware Yojana (PMAY) has revealed that Senior Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) officials have given instructions to the defendant to change the name.
The Crime Sleuth branch said that one of the accused of Pramod Vasava, an executive engineer, had asked the Nishith Pithva software expert to change the list.
Both were arrested last week after VMC filed a complaint against them.
“As long as the question, it appears that Vasava asked PithVa to change the names in the list of beneficiaries,” said a crime branch official.
The police said that there was a possibility of involvement of politicians in fraud that might have requested charges to change the name.
Both Vasava and Pithva were produced in front of the local court on Monday after their three-day detention ended.
The police have been seeking further detention for two days but were rejected by the court and the duo was sent to the judiciary.
The City Engineer of the VMC Shailesh Mistry has made a complaint of a criminal violation of trust by public servants and forgery against Vasava and Pithva after the civil body learned that they had changed the list of beneficiaries PMAY.
Beneficiaries under PMAY were selected in computer lotteries held on August 7 as part of the five-year completion of the Government Vijay Kupani.
Lottery was carried out to distribute 382 housing units at an event held at Sir Ijirao Nagargruh.
