MADRID: A surge in lava destroyed around 100 houses on La Palma Spain Island a day after the volcano erupted there, forcing thousands from their homes, local officials said Monday.
“At present we have evacuated 5,000 people and around 100 houses have been destroyed,” said Lorena Hernandez Labrador, a local council member responsible for public safety.
