Melbourne: Australia added a quick Bowler Scott Boland to their squad for the third ash test against England starting on Sunday in Melbourne amid concerns over fitness Mitchell Starc after he tweaked in the second match.
Starc sustained an injury while hitting in Adelaide but still claimed six goals in a pink ball contest to help Australia win 275 to walk and go ahead in the five-match series.
“Boand has been practicing with the team in Adelaide and joining troops while the medical team considered the bowling group quickly after the second test victory,” said Cricket Australia in a statement on Tuesday.
Boand, who has played 14 people everyday and three Twenty20 international people, has been in a strong form for Victoria this summer in Australia with 15 noses from two matches against New South Wales.
Australia Without Pat Cummins for the Adelaide test after the captain was ruled out because it was a close contact of the Covid-19 case, while fellow Josh Hazlewood was quickly ruled out by the side strains suffered by the series in Brisbane.
Both of them returned to the squad on Thursday ahead of the ‘boxing day’ test in Melbourne.
