Afghan’s face “Hunger avalanches and destitution”: UN Agency

Geneva: Almost all Afghanists do not have enough to eat and a failed economy can provide an increasingly terrible Afghan situation under the Taliban government into the disaster next year, the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) said on Tuesday.
The WFP survey showed that around 98% of Afghans did not eat enough, with seven of the 10 families who used borrowing food, which pushed them deeper into poverty, a spokesman for the agent to reporters.
Withdrawal of foreign Aid who suddenly followed the Taliban victory in August had left a fragile Afghan economy on the verge of destruction, with the price of food, fuel, and other basic staples increased rapidly for many.
“The spinning economic crisis, conflict and drought means the average family now can hardly overcome it,” said Tomson Phiri to Geneva Briefing.
“We have a great amount to stop this crisis to become a disaster.” WFP has provided food assistance to 15 million Afghans so far in 2021, and seven million in November only.
Next year, he plans to increase his assistance to 23 million people in all provinces in Afghanistan.
“We can’t waste time,” Phiri said.
“Our country director describes the situation is very terrible.
He said it was ‘starving avalanches and poverty’.” Separately, Al-Nashif’s tone, representative of the United Nations Deputy Human Rights Commissioner, said the Afghan family faced “severe and hunger poverty” with many driven into desperative steps, including child labor, early marriages and “even children’s sales child”.
