Tatvan: The scene of the new refugee crisis, Turkey sent an army to strengthen his border with Iran to stop the entry of Afghanistan’s potential to escape from the Taliban rebellion.
Irregular arrivals have risen when Afghans who escaped weeks and last month appeared in the steep Turkey border area after a long journey in Iran.
A group of Afghans who were met by the Associated Press near the border said they had left the Afghan military and left the country as a Taliban offensive attack.
“We are out of need.
Taliban have attacked our country and now they control it, we hope that the Turkish government (accept us),” One of them, said Feroz Seddiqi, told AP.
He explained that they had mounted the mountain to reach Turkey, Eternal Haus and hungry.
Nesar Ahmad, another group member, said they also experienced looting by thieves who took their money and cellphones.
Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan government has expelled warnings and criticism from opposition parties about increasing the number of migrants from Afghanistan.
This week, he acknowledged that Turkey faced a wave of new refugees from Afghanistan and said the government would work with Pakistan to try and bring stability in the country of Ravage.
Minister of Defense Hulusi Root said the border with Iran was reinforced with troops and that the walls founded on the border were almost complete.
Turkey has been home to around 4 million migrants – most of their Syrian refugees who fled the civil war in neighboring countries.
Anti-migration sentiment has been high in this country because it wrestles with economic misery – including high unemployment – which has been exacerbated by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Video images circulating on social media for the past few months have shown young groups allegedly arriving in Turkey from Iran.
Some media report that up to 1,000 migrants have crossed the border with Iran every day.
Opposition parties have called on the government to “control the border” and prevent a new surge in migration.
They have also warned of new migration agreements between Turkey and Western nations as achieved by Ankara with the European Union in 2016.
Under the agreement, Ankara agreed to prevent migrant flow to Europe while EU for its part promised, among others, for Send billions of euros to Turkey for Syrian refugees.
The main opposition party also claims that Erdogan crashed into a secret agreement with US President Joe Biden where Turkey will accept Afghans who work with US forces.
The US Embassy released a statement on Wednesday saying the claim was “completely without the foundation.” Root, who examined the border with Iran on Sunday, said that around 62,000 people were prevented from the border intersection since the beginning of the year.
“We will intensify our efforts and strengthen the understanding that our borders cannot be passed,” he said.
The Safak Yeni newspaper, which is close to the government, reported that a stretch of 155 kilometers – (96 miles) from the wall 241 kilometers (150 miles) planned has been established on the border.
Nearly 200 Watch towers equipped with electro-optical surveillance have also been built, the paper said.
