Ghaziabad / New Delhi: After 11 months, the main Ghaziabad-Delhi Road link can finally be reopened when Delhi’s police on Friday sending cranes and workers to the Ghazipur border to remove the barricade placed on the Delhi-Meerut toll road to enter the capital farmers.
BKU leader Rajesh Tikait said their protest on the site would continue.
“Delhi’s police released the barricade on the orders of the Supreme Court.
We have told the court that it was a police officer who had blocked the road, not us,” he said.
Delhi Police Chief Rakesh Asthana said the decision to remove barricades in Ghazipur and Tikri Borders was taken to provide a positive message after talks with farmers and Haryana leaders.
“The border cannot remain closed forever.
We relate to various factions and farmer leaders and discussions also carried out at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
We decided that, as a positive approach, the barricade must be removed for now,” said Asthana.
Because of barricades, inter-state travel and commercial vehicles are affected.
“We hope that in the future the situation will increase and the normal state is restored,” said the police chief.
Asked about the impact on law and order, Asthana said the right steps would be taken as and if needed.
“If there are laws and situations of order, we will handle it.
We will act in a row.
We are ready for and can handle any situation.
We want to give a message that the situation is normal,” he added.
On Thursday afternoon, Delhi police began to reduce the security layer at the border of Tikri and the same drill was carried out on the Ghazipur border on Friday.
The removal of cement containers and stones in Tikri is a prequel at the opening of one arterial road.
However, the police said the high-powered committee formed by the Haryana House Department was looking into it.
The panel will receive a return request for traffic on the border of Haryana-Delhi in Singhu and Tikri.
Delhi police are worried about the law and the situation of order at the border after the violence of the Republican Day this year and severe spread, apart from increasing security measures, has continued there for months.
Meanwhile, commenting on the recent steps to form a new unit in specific cells to deal with Jihadi and Khalistani terror modules, asthana said, “Delhi police must be prepared for the future.
We make changes in the current system to make it more efficient.
.
It is very important to reset and strengthen special cells.
We have added new officers and new units for it.
