Ghaziabad: With limiting pandemic and tight locking, criminal activities in the district saw a sharp decline last year with 20% less crimes reported from the previous year.
Theft, which has increased sharply in Ghaziabad for many years, also sank from 186 cases reported in 2019 to 61 in 2020, the data of the National Record Bureau (NCRB) recently released.
However, this is in contrast to the number of crimes reported in the first six months of the year.
According to the Ghaziabad police, between January 1 and June 30, a total of 307 theft has been reported in the district with the maximum case reported from Sahibabad (41), followed by Indirapuram (35) and Kavi Nagar (34).
“Indirapuram and Sahibabad are located adjacent to Delhi.
Thieves usually target these areas because they can make a quick vacation to Delhi after committing a crime.
Most of the people who live in parts of this district are partners who work and criminals utilize this,” said a senior police officer.
By 2020, at least 52 theft in the district was reported after sunset and nine during the day.
Seventeen theft trials were also recorded in the district, NCRB data stated.
About 30% of the case reported this year, the official said, was submitted by high-rise apartment residents, while the remaining reported from independent houses, colonies and factories.
About 20% of cases have been submitted to domestic assistance and other staff.
“This thief came to work in this area as a daily bet and household staff and conducted a reception before committing a crime.
So far, more than 30 thieves have been captured by the police who entered houses in this area with similar operandi modus,” added the official .
Over the past two months, SP City-2 Gyanendra Singh told TII on Sunday, cases of theft had fallen when the police had arrested most of the criminals active in the area.
“It’s easy to enter the house with the pretext of being a worker, waiter, etc.
So, the police verification is very important.
The police verification form can be submitted online.
We have also formed a team in each police station to oversee suspicious people.
The team also examined Vendors and workers who used to work with high increases, “he said.
Patrol during the day and night has increased, Singh said, adding that the Association of Apartment Owners (AOAS) and the Resident Welfare Association (RWAS) must also advance and install a gap in the security of their community.
In 2018, former SP City Shlok Kumar had issued guidelines for Aoas and Rwa to strengthen their security mechanisms and ensure verification of all workers employed in the housing community.
Residents are also advised to install anti-theft devices in their flats.
