After rejecting ‘bandwagon’ online in 2020, the Vidarbha literary festival was back in physical mode

Nagpur: Even when Covid attacked in 2020 and most of the world jumped to ‘Online Bandwagon’, the Vidarbha Literature Festival (VLF) decided to wait to protect the ‘Essence of Light Fests’.
And now, after a long wait, the first VLF post-covid event will be held in physical mode on September 25.
This event is supported by the Times of India.
This will mark the first monthly event by Vid Lit Fest, leading to the Grand Finale in February.
Despite the pressure and temptation for the VLF kickstart in very large online mode, the Sachin Sachin-Secretary of Jahagirdar felt it was not ‘the right thing to do’.
“The experience of attending literary festivals can change in many ways.
When you interact with the author directly, listen to anecdotes that contribute to the story, get a personalized autographed version and soak in a rich literary experience, all your perspectives change,” Jahagirdar said.
“After meeting the same-minded people, learn about new books, writers, get feedback from other participants, the world of newly open literature.
And I am sure that nothing can happen on the online platform,” he said.
Certain experiences attended online events since last year helping Jahagirdar in forming his views.
“I attended several books related to books and nearly 50-70 participants attended even for famous writers.
And many people have the habit of turning off their cameras for all meetings, so writers who speak don’t even know whether the virtual audience even listens.
For all we know , the participants will go to another room, “Jahagirdar said.
VLF wants to remain a ‘deep experience’ for those present.
“It’s all about quality, good for writers and those present.
In the end, both of them have to leave feelings enriched because of interaction or talks,” Jahagirdar said.
‘Quality’ will be a keyword for the VLF event on September 25 as a ‘quantity’ will take the back seat due to covid restrictions.
“We will have a limited entry for 75 participants and have started registration online at www.vidlitfest.com,” said Jahagirdar.
The first event will display the writer’s criticism and film Namrata Joshi about his book dealing with various aspects of the filmmaking process.
“This event will be held indoors in the Chitnavis Center and will comply with all Covid protocols.
We have a self-imposed lower presence limit to ensure that social distance is not a problem at all,” Jahagirdar said.
