Ahmedabad: City crime branch on Monday destroys illegal telephone exchanges operating from the commercial complex at the CG Road in the Navrangpura area where international calls are converted into local calls, causing state financial losses.
The city crime branch officer has received input that Tabrez Kataria, a Sarkhej resident, has carried out illegal telephone exchanges where he facilitates VoIP call conversion services (Voice Over Internet Protocol) to GSM (Global System For mobile communication) calls for countries where Internet calls are arranged.
Using the SIP (session of the initiating protocol), Kataria and its business partners, Dwayne Pereira from Pune, provides this illegal service to their lord in the Gulf countries.
Kataria has taken 100 lines of SIP, using which he uses to change international calls carried out through the internet into a local call.
In the last 11 days, they have facilitated 12.46 lakh calls, convert VoIP calls to GSM calls.
The masterminds of this fraud is used to sell call slots to citizens of the Gulf countries and give them call facilities at low prices.
The crime branch posted a cattle under the allegations of violations of trust, cheating and criminal conspiracy.
