Ahmedabad: The AMC revenue department has been in the first 11 days since this month sealed 2,751 properties located in various zones for non-payment of property tax exceed RS 1 lakh.
The department has also issued a notification for tax recovery.
Civic’s body will now begin to seal the properties of the owner who died of his tax exceeding Rs 50,000.
“From February 1 to 11 we have sealed 2,751 properties in the city with a delayed tax that was delayed than Rs 1 Lakh,” said the Vakil Jainac, Chair of the AMC income committee.
“In the period 1-14 February, we have recovered around RS 51.74 Crore in delayed taxes, namely Rs 31.6 Crore higher than our tax collection in the same period last year.” Vakil said that the Civic body will now begin to issue notifications to property owners who tax exceed RS 50,000.
Vakil said that the department also introduced a rebate scheme of interest to appreciate property owners who paid their taxes early.
Under this scheme, those who paid their property tax in January 2022 received 80% tax price discount for the nature of housing and 60% rebat for non-housing properties.
Those who pay their taxes in February will get a 75% tax price discount for the nature of housing and 55% for non-housing properties.
Those who pay their taxes in March will get a discount of 70% for housing and 50% for non-housing properties.
“It’s better to take advantage of this scheme and pay your tax instead of getting your property sealed,” Vakil said.
“The taxpayer whose property is located in Chawl and the slums will continue to get a 100% discount if they pay their taxes in the January-March period.”
