Ahmedabad: On the first warning on October 31, the first Indian amphibious aircraft service that had been suspended for more than six months, could not continue the operation.
The upper state government official said they had not heard from the airline, which was 100% of subsidiaries, Spicshuttle, operating anger aircraft service that connected the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad and the statue of the union in Kevadia.
“This service is expected to be continued in September this year.
However, we have not heard from the airline regarding the resumption of services,” said the state government source for development.
“Spicejet is in talks with manufacturers to buy airplanes.
These processes need time and hence, we are not sure whether and when new aircraft will be purchased and operationalized for this service,” said a source.
Email queries sent to Spicejet were missed.
This service remained suspended for 244 days since the inauguration on October 31, 2020.
The force aircraft was brought for operations to India rent by Spicejet.
The source confirmed that the plane was currently in Maldives and has not been brought back.
Seaplane flights that connect Ahmedabad and Kevadia were suspended earlier this year right in front of the second wave of Covid-19 infection.
This is the second main suspension of the Amas service.
The first is within a month of its operations in November-END 2020, when the plane was sent for overall maintenance for Maldives, due to the lack of wet and dry docks needed for aircraft maintenance here.
Two rounds of flights from Ahmedabad to Kevadia operate when the service has continued.
On a plane plane has so far taken around 284 flights and transported around 2,458 passengers.
