Ahmedabad: At least nine projects debated to relieve traffic flow in the city have been sewn by the Civic body.
Projects are also intended to reduce accidents in the ‘intersection of disorders’.
Technical problems and many other reasons have been quoted by AMC to reject plans.
Junking reports of various mobility projects have been accessed by TOI.
This report was prepared on September 15 this year.
This report has been distributed by AMC City (traffic) engineers.
AMC said that plans require changes in the overall alignment of roads and bridges and requires an underground utility shift.
In some cases, AMC said that construction would be impractical.
The structure was suggested by the CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), involved by the Civic Agency a few months ago to suggest a mobility plan for the city.
Widening of Chimanbhai Flyover, for example, was thrown away because the AMC engineers said that the flyover could not handle longer traffic.
When the state stands now, traffic congestion piles up on the flyover even if the vehicle is damaged.
The Flyover is the main route for traffic that moves towards Gandhinagar.
At Vadaj Circle, the plan of Overbridge Bhimjipura-Chandlodia has been detained because the Development Project returns Sabarmati Ashram.
This project makes changes in the distribution of bridges needed.
AMC has also dropped a proposal to build underpasses and flyovers in the eastern part of the city which recorded the number of highest road deaths.
Between January 2019 and February this year, 491 people were killed in an accident on the road; That number is 395 in the West.
Overall 2020, 592 accidents occurred in the East Ahmedabad, which in 191 was fatal.
In West Ahmedabad during the same period, 493 accidents occurred in which 118 were fatal.
In 2019, 772 accidents occurred in the eastern part of the city while there were 592 in the West.
In the eastern part like Nikol, Odhav, Ramol, and the fatality of Amraiwadi 54 roads was recorded.
In addition, 49 deaths are registered in Danilimda, Kagdapth, and Narol.
While in the West, the highest number of accidents recorded at the Chandkheda police station, Ranip, Sabarmati, and East Riverfront.
“In the eastern part of the city, housing, commercial, and industrial clusters really overlap,” AMC official said.
“Also, heavy vehicles such as dumper and trucks pose a danger for pedestrians, cyclists, and two-wheeled riders.
We need more planning in the area.”
