Ahmedabad: The tension gripped the city of Dhandhuka from the Ahmedabad district after the murder of a 27-year-old man who was affiliated with the right-wing organization on Tuesday.
Total shutdown near observed in the city on Thursday after Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) called for the bandh to protest the murder.
A large police fence led by senior officers has been deployed to prevent legal and order problems.
According to a police officer, the deceased, Kishan Bharwad, drove a pillion on a motorcycle with his friend near Modhwada on Tuesday when two unidentified men fired two rounds of him.
One bullet hit him, kill him in place.
A senior police officer said two men had been detained in this case.
“On January 9, a FIR was filed against Bharwad for allegedly criticizing people from certain religions and sharing videos and beheading photos.
Bharwad also made an inappropriate statement about several religious leaders and said at the social media post that people could not make Comments blasphemy on religion, “said police officer.
In certain cases, the police had arrested Bharwad and then released him with a guarantee.
“Even though this problem seems to have ended with his arrest, some witnesses in the case said Bharwad was killed because his unpleasant post.
However, we investigated all angles,” the officer said, adding that the extra police had been deployed in the city.

VHP said Kishan Bharwad was killed by people from other religions when they were angry with him because of his controversial social media post.
Some Gujarat VHP leaders reached Dhandhuka to encourage the immediate arrest of the culprit, claiming that Bharwad was the target of social media posts.
“We knew that some people from other faith were angry with Bharwad and even threatened them recently because of the social media post , “said Gujarat Spokesman VHP Hitendrasinh Rajput.
Meanwhile, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have called for bandh in the city of Ranpur in the bottle district on Friday.
Bandh has been summoned as a protest from the murder of a young man in Dhandhuka on Tuesday.
