New Delhi: Air travelers continue to face problems even after Christmas weekends with flight cancellations shed until Monday.
More than 2,500 flights were canceled globally, including around 1,000 in the United States because the case of Omicron continued to rise, forcing the crew to isolate and tourists to look for other forms of travel.
The Chinese airline is one of the top operators to cancel their flight.
Of the 2,601 cancellations up to 11:30 PM IST, 423 flights belonging to China Eastern Airline and 198 to Air China, according to Flighteare flight tracking websites.
Among the US Airlines, United Airlines canceled 93 flights, American Airlines 82, Delta Air Lines 73 and Jetblue called 66 flights on Monday after Nixing Holiday Weekend.
A total of 1,003 flights were canceled inside, being, or outside the US, a calculation on Flighteare flight tracking websites showed up to 11:30 PM Ist.
Meanwhile, a total of 8,472 were delayed flights around the world, including 2,849 inside, being, or out of the United States.
About 11,000 flights have been removed throughout the world since Friday, and tens of thousands are more delayed, during the period of the busiest trip this year.

and Southwest Airlines Co also fell between 2% and 3% in trading before the opening.
With increasing infection, airlines have been forced to cancel flights, with pilots and cabin crews need to be quarantined, while bad weather in some areas added to tourist misery.
Meanwhile, the Norwegian cruise ship operator Cruise Line Holdings, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd and Carnival Corp also fell between 1.3% and 2.4%.
During the weekend, at least three cruises were forced to return to the port after the Covid-19 case was detected, according to media reports.
Travel Firms Order Holdings Inc., Airbnb Inc., Expedia Group Inc.
and Tripadvisor Inc were between 0.6% and 1.8%.
