Ahmedabad: Worried Cyberattack on a new water supply operation based on a new internet protocol for the city, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has been looking for a strong cybersecurity cover for the water supply network.
On February 8, it will choose the operator to manage the operation of the water supply and provide cyberattack cover to the water supply network.
AMC will spend a little more than Rs 7 Crore for the project.
Control of AMC supervision and data acquisition (SCADA) to regulate water supply is still in a newborn stage.
“We are afraid of Cyberattack on an important operation of water supply management.
Trying to increase the level of cleaning agent or chlorine gas to a dangerous level or change the pH value of water supply can have great consequences,” said a senior AMC official.
Among the main operations that are outsourcing are improvements and maintenance of capture of levels, water flow transmitters, water pressure transmitters, analysis, energy meters, and maintenance of SCADA operations for water supply, including three water distribution systems, processing plants and four French wells.
Among the critical operations that will be handled include chlorine-pH, analyzing turbidity and beware of each multifunction of each meter flow with a valve.
“The SCADA system has been attacked in the past and a person must attract a clear difference between TI and Operation Technology (OT) in this vulnerability.
We must ensure that we do not use the same routers and communication networks for IT applications,” said a senior AMC official .
He added that with more centralization of water resources, the state government also plans to the command system and central control for a fair water supply in all Nagarpalika and City companies.
