BERLIN: The range of politically motivated offenses in Germany climbed this past year, also as protests opposing authorities steps to curtail that the coronavirus pandemic gave an increase into the far-right, Germany’s national intelligence agency said.
Over fifty percent of those 44,692 politically motivated offenses enrolled in 2020 were perpetrated with far-right radicals, ” the bureau stated in its yearly report released on Tuesday.
“Extremists and terrorists aren’t going to lockdown,” Thomas Haldenwang, mind of the BfV national security service, said in a press conference to show the report.
Germany is hoping to stem a rise in violent far-right ideology.
Far-right violent offenses, like a fire which killed nine migrants from the town of Hanau in February this past year, increased by 10.6 percent, the report revealed.

“Right-wing extremists took up the coronavirus discussion and nearly completely dealt with the government’s protective steps,” it added.
Back in August, protesters stormed the measures of the Reichstag parliament building, many of them whipping far-right flags.

The amount of left-wing violent offenses also soared in 2020, together with nearly targeting both the police and safety authorities, in addition to far-right protesters in anti-coronavirus lockdown demonstrations.
