Frizzter: Forest Officials Seize Fisheries Pukat Andhra Pradesh for alleged fishing in the no-fishing zone near the Rushikulya River’s mouth on Ganjam.
The Trawler and seven crew members were handed over to the Department of Fisheries (Marine) on Thursday for legal action.
“The area they entered had been notified as a no-fishing zone for the safety of the Olive Sea Turtles Ridley,” said Amlan Nayak, Division Forest Officer (DFO), was mixed.
340 kg of fish confiscated from them auctioned at Rs 14,600, he added.
DFO said it was a second fish trawder that could be seized along the coast of Ganjam during the current season.
Previously, the government issued a notification that prohibits fishing from November 1 to May 31.
