Assam City Election: Congress for the contest at 921 Ward Civic

Guwahati: Congress will compete in 921 of 977 city wards in 80 city councils in Assam, where the election was announced on Wednesday.
PCC President Assam Bhupen Kumar Borah has appointed seven senior party leaders as special electoral observers.
Observers have been authorized by Borah to issue “Form-A” and “Form-B” to the candidates for the contest to confirm their candidates.
Borah said that when he finished the names of candidates, the President of the District Congress and Chair of the Kota Council Election Committee, together with observers would consult with party lawmakers, MLA and party candidates from the election of concerned congresses.
“There will be no alliance with other parties at the state level for city elections, but at the local level of the state president has the authorized leader to sew alliances with the anti-BJP party,” said the leader of the Congress legislative party, Debabrata Saikia.
Two of the main opposition parties of the country, Congress and AIudf, tried to approach once again to win at least one of the two chairs of Rajya Sabha (RS) from Assam, which will soon be empty.
While the Congress remained wide open, AIudf insisted on his stand that opposition candidates must be from AIudf.

“It is not clear whether there will be an alliance with AGP in the city election.

AGP leaders hope that the Alliance will continue with BJP in the city election too.
“In the next few days we will take the final decision and we want to understand BJP.
AGP does not want to go Solo when there is an alliance at the state level with BJP,” said AGP General Secretary Ramendra Narayan Kalita, the organizer of the State Level Committee formed by AGP for city selection .
