Guwahati: The State House and Political Department on Tuesday ordered the Director General of Police Assam to dissolve the current form of anti-narcotics squad formed by the Nagaon Regency Police Supervisor and transferred all members of the troops, except SP, out of the region.
These decisions were based on the recommendations of the Committee of the Secretary of Secretary of Paban Kumar Borthakur to become a shooting incident by members of the anti-narcotics forces in Kacholukhowa Tiniali in the district on January 22 resulting in injury to one Kirti Kamal Bora, who was a former student worker (Aasu) Assam.
Chairman of Himanta Minister Buswa Sarma has given an order after a massive protest in the Nagaon district demanded a probe that did not side with the incident so that the victim was punished.
The house department also asked DGP to postpone the defendant’s sub-inspector Pradeep Bania and transferred two cases based on FIR submitted by Bania and Nilakamal Bora, father of Cid.
A government spokesman said the government had received Borthakur reports and based on its recommendations, the Department of Home and Politics had directed DGP to take many steps about the shooting incident, the spokesman said.
Furthermore, DGP has been asked to investigate the department by a senior police officer regarding the role played by each police officer from the squad involved in the incident.
