Guwahati: Following the increase in Covid situation, the Ministry of Health Assam on Monday told me that testing was obliged on arrival at the airport, the train station, the border point of the road and hospital would be stopped from Tuesday.
The Ministry of Health only urges that symptomatic patients will be tested voluntarily.
“Simtomatic patients were asked to test for voluntary diagnostic purposes in the recognized Covid testing facility,” read a notification signed by the Main Secretary (Health), Anurag Goel.
Furthermore, it states that mandatory testing for Covid for each patient who comes to hospital services or the patient’s (OPD) department will also be stopped.
However, it is said that symptomatic patients can be asked to test Covid for diagnostic purposes, as applicable.
“These instructions are issued in better public interests given the developing situation of the Covid pandemic and will be responsible for changes if needed in accordance with the SOP / Guidelines issued by the Government of India and finally the Covid-19 situation in the country / country,” the notification clarified.
It notes that the decision has been taken because the number of people who are fully vaccinated has increased significantly and various relaxation has been permitted by the government and leading health institutions such as AIIMS New Delhi considering the decline in the number of cases.
The government recognizes the difficulties faced because of testing the protocol in the emergency department at the hospital.
Previously, even serious patients had to wait for RT-PCR reports, before they underwent surgery.
This causes serious discomfort for hundreds of patients for months.
The source in the Ministry of Health said the number of positive daily cases at the train station and airports in Guwahati were less than 10 for some time.
Because the state government has decided to restore normal by relieving all restrictions from Tuesday, relaxation in testing has come as a big assistance for passengers and patients.
Covid cases active in the state also decreased to 2,499 on Sunday night.
The daily level of peposititivity also gradually fell 0.83%.
