Guwahati: Assam plans to complete the first dose of Covid-19’s vaccination between 15 and 18 years in the state in a week from 3 to 9 January and started a campaign of a booster dose for 60+ citizens from January Minister Health 10 January Mahanta said The age of these children, which includes students who emerge for inspection of the board are scheduled to be held from March next year, will be given a covaxin vaccine, which has a smaller gap between two doses, 28 days, compared to the covishield vaccine that requires a loophole of 84 days between two doses.
“If a student gets the first dose of Covaxin on January 9, he will qualify for the second dose in February, earlier than the exam,” Manganta said.
“Go to school and college to vaccinate children between 15 and 18 years old.
We have instructed the deputy commissioner to identify schools and colleges in their respective districts to prepare them as a vaccination center,” Manganta added.
He told those who did not study at educational institutions between the age given to be able to take a vaccine at the regular curcination centers.
The first day, 10 schools will be selected in small districts and 15 to 20 schools in larger districts.
There will be separate rooms arranged for girls and boys for vaccinations and also an individual reshuffle on the school campus for vaccinated students.
The number of students will be registered and if someone does not have, they can register with their parents’ cellphone numbers.
