Guwahati: At least seven more people, including foreign returns, has been tested positively for the Omicron Coronavirus variant in Assam, taking the calculation of new tensions to nine, an official said on Friday.
Of the seven new omikron patients, six did not have a history of travel, said the Lakshman National Health Mission Director.
“The results of the genome sequencing test of seven positive Covid patients came yesterday and all had been infected with Omicron variants.
From them, only one returned from a foreign country and the others did not have a history of travel,” Lakshganan said.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Assam Pijush Hazarika has been tested positive for Covid-19 and in house isolation.
“Yesterday I tested a positive Covid.
I have mild symptoms and I am in isolation of houses, follow all the protocols and covid guidelines.
Those who come into contact with I was asked to take the necessary actions,” the Minister wrote on Twitter.
Nine omicron-positive patients including the Assam Resident whose samples were collected in Meghalaya.
Assam on January 5 reported the first case of the Omicron variant as a Saudi Arabia Returnee was tested positively for the new strain of Coronavirus.
The northeastern state on Thursday recorded 844 fresh Covidi NFeksi, 253 more than the previous day, with a calculation up to 6.23,332, a NHM bulletin said.
