LONDON: British Pharmaceuticals Giant AstraZeneca on Monday revealed more positive results from treatment trials for Covid-19 symptoms.
Medication, made of a combination of two antibodies, achieved a statistically significant reduction in Covid-19 or severe death “in patients who are not treated in hospitals with mild to moderate symptoms, said AstraZeneca in a statement.
Group maintenance, known as AZD7442, has undergone phase 3 or final clinical trials to assess its security and efficacy.
“By continuing a serious Covid-19 infection case throughout the world, there is a significant need for new therapies such as AZD7442 which can be used to protect the vulnerable population …
and can also help prevent developments for severe diseases,” said the main trial investigator Hugh Montgomery.
“This positive result shows that the comfortable intramuscular dose of AZD7442 can play an important role in helping to fight this destructive pandemic.” The trial involved 903 participants and 90 percent of them were high-risk people exposed to progress to severe Covid-19.
A separate covid vaccine AstraZeneca, was developed with Oxford University, helping to activate the fast British covid vaccination drive.
