Thiruvananthapuram: Oppo Leader V D Sathean has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is looking for an urgent intervention in preventing attacks on Christians in Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
In his letter, the opposition leader said that it was very disturbing to see that the right-wing group showed loyalty to the RSS had released an attack on Christians in countries such as Karnataka and Gujarat.
He said that this violated the right to life and freedom of religion as guaranteed by the constitution.
Quoting the example that took place in Karnataka on 11 December this year, where Christian groups were attacked and their religious texts were burned, Sathean said that no one was arrested in connection with the incident and the police handled hands.

Sathean said that in accordance with the People’s Union NGO report for civil liberties (PUCL), as many as 39 attacks on Christians were reported in Karnataka in 2021.

He further said that the decision by the Government of Karnataka to bring laws on forced conversions has made the situation more fluctuating.

Sathean also remembers the incident of violence in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, to ask the Prime Minister to intervene and end the cruelty.
