Melbourne: Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne announced Saturday’s ‘Maitri’ undergraduate program where he would provide more than USD 11 million for four years to support Indian students to study at the world’s leading universities of Australia.

Speaking at a press conference along with the Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar, Payne said the relationship between Australia and India also had a deep connection in trade and investment.
“And when we stand here in Melbourne, the Minister of Trade, Tourism and Investment and Tehan returned from India after a negotiation round for a comprehensive economic cooperation agreement (CECA).”
At CECA, Payne said this was an agreement that both parties were confident, would open up opportunities for new trade and investment, especially because the two economies recovered from the impact of Covid-19.
Payne said that the Maitri program was a strong positive for the education sector in Australia, recovering from the economic impact of Covid 19.
The Australian Foreign Minister highlights the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was signed between the two countries on Friday in New Delhi.
