Mangaluru: The second medium-term PU exam results held in December 2021 have revealed that the majority of the performance of students, especially from rural areas and studying in PU, poor.
Their colleagues in urban areas have done better.
The main reason, some teachers said, was the Kuncian Covid-19 which affected students’ learning abilities.
Jayanna CD, DDPU Dakshina Kannada, said the overall performance in the district in medium-term examination was around 70% of 85% during pre-covid days.
“The lecturers have done their best when PU colleges opened for offline classes.
During our visit to college, students in feedback they appreciate medium-term examinations that have given them to examine their academic abilities,” he added.
The lecturer said that many were struggling to print a Pass and others just secured a pass mark.
Kavitha, Principal in PU College government in Benjanivu, said that the overall performance of the second PUC candidate was bad.
“In a medium-term examination, only around 60% of them have passed in our college and the majority have secured a pass mark.
It was because the college needed several weeks to return it to its path.
Second, students still think that there will be no routine checks because Covid-19.
What’s worse is the performance of the first PU student.
There is a long way to go to get it on the right track, “he said.
According to the lecturer, the first year of PU students did not have a regular class for two years.
“First year students need a lot of improvement,” said Pastor Clifford Sequeira, St Aloysius College’s school.
Yusuf, Principal of PU College School at B Mooda Bantul Taluk, said the quality of the average performance of students suffered.
Another big change is that students don’t write much in their newspapers.
“The number of answers has come down.
We try to fix it by holding additional unit tests and preparation tests,” he said.
