New Delhi: In another big boost towards an electric vehicle in a two-wheeled room in India, Bajaj Auto has announced an investment of Rs 300 Crore to establish a new factory for EV manufacture.
This is the same site that is used for the manufacture of original chailed scooters.
The new factory is being established in Akurdi, Pune and will have a production capacity of 500,000 vehicles per year.
When fully operational, this facility is expected to employ 800 personnel and will be spread in an area of ​​500,000 square feet.
The new factory will enjoy the closeness of several suppliers who require additional investment in Rs 250 Crore.
In addition to being a manufacturing unit, the Akurdi plant will have complete settings for designing and developing various electric vehicles for Bajaj Auto.
Bajaj claims that because the site is located together with the Bajaj R & D center, the company will be able to enjoy better technical collaboration.
At present, Bajaj Auto only sells one scooter in the form of the EV cheat, which is the recent launch.
The company now sees entering the EV market that develops in India with full force because the two-wheel EV market is expected to grow at a healthy speed for the next few years.
The company has not made official comments on the type of vehicle planned to be launched from this facility, but we expect a combination of motorbikes and scooters, initially tilted to the former considering market dynamics.
