Varanasi: Students from the Nursing School of Universitas Banaras Hindu boycotted their class and worked at SSL hospitals and conducted sit-ins on campus to support their demands on Monday morning.
Director of the Bhu Medical Sciences Institute, Prof.
Br Mittal said that he visited the agitation site to speak by protesting students and convincing them to meet their original demands including conducting inspections.
But the students remained rigid on their demands such as demeaning them in nursing work at the University Hospital after specializing in the examination of the past year, he said adding that this demand would not be because there was a procedure specified for recruitment.
Adung continues until evening.
Students who protested said that their demands included to conduct their examinations in November and stated the results at the end of December, starting MSc nursing courses, recruiting students last year as nursing officers, dormitory facilities and quota in recruitment for students.
They alleged that since 2018 breastfeeding students protested repeatedly with the same demands but except the issuance of guarantees of university officials never showed interest in meeting their demands.
They also blamed the Director of the Ims-Bhu because he adopted an apathetic attitude towards them.
