Mysuru: Even though the government has limited celebrations, the Dasara celebration in Mysuru District has come as a big assistance for the hotel industry, which has slipped under the loss since the pandemic hit 18 months ago.
Although visitors from neighboring countries Kerala and Tamil Nadu are fewer, a large number of Bengalurance checks Mysuru to witness the celebration.
One reasons in a hurry is fatigue for limitations and locking, while a long weekend has also helped.
As a result, the hotel has recorded a decent order until October 15.
There are around 10,000 hotel rooms in Mysuru and, on Sundays, around 7,000 rooms are occupied, thanks to the large inflows of visitors from all states, especially Bengaluru.
“About 70% of rooms are booked until October 15,” said Narayana Gowda, President, Association of Hotel Mysuru owners.
“It has happened as a big help for us.
This time, most of our customers come from Bengaluru and many of them stay.
It helps business recover.
The restaurant also witnesses a good business.” The numbers suggest the number of tourists from Kerala and Tamil Nadu has decreased by around 95%.
“With strict rules still valid for visitors from Kerala, people from the country lived.
So, we don’t get many tourists,” Gowda said.
Stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality industry said the great attraction was the illumination of the city and they wanted the authorities to keep the lights outside the Dasara.
While confirming that the majority of tourists came from Bengaluru, Prashanth BS, President, the Federation of Mysuru Organization, said: “Dasara Rush has shown that people are not afraid of Covid-19 again.
We need to take advantage of this Dasara to promote tourism in this district.
Lighting is the main attraction.
The district government must continue outside the Dasara because people continue to arrive at Mysuru even after the festival.
