Belgium calls for an inquiry about deadly floods

Brussels: Political parties in Belgium on Monday requested the appointment of the parliamentary commission to investigate deadly floods that destroyed several cities in this country earlier this month.
Humanist Democratic Center (CDH) said he did not want to launch the “witch hunt” but hoped to explain the disaster that killed 37 people in Belgium and left several missing people.
Together with death in Germany, the death toll from floods exceeded 210.
Meanwhile, Belgian citizen groups considered taking legal action against the country because of alleged failure to protect them.
“Urgency remains to help victims, and all efforts must be directed at this time in the management of the crisis,” said the CDH party.
The party wants a parliamentary commission to be established in the French-language Wallonia territory which has been flooded in Belgium to “avoid the risk of repeating such disasters in the future.” In separate actions, residents living in cities close to the eastern city of Liege were damaged after the Vesdre River spilled its banks, called for independent investigations.
Bruno Lesse, from the group of people who opposed the flow, told Belgium the media that the group thought to pursue criminal complaints for unintentional murder.
Lisse thought the river system error strengthened flooding from heavy rainfall.
Some experts have suggested to reduce the surface of the water in Vesdre Dam after the fortune teller that issues the weather warnings will prevent a lot of damage in the nearest cities.
